Job Search – 10 Ways to Burn Brightly, Rather Than Burnout on the Job Č Burnout is awful. I know… I’ve been there. Recently, I’ve been spending a lot of time working with career coaching clients, and I’ve realized that, statistically, a huge percentage of people are suffering from serious burnout. You can spot it by their desperate, unusually long fingertips.

Why burnout? Why that dull, painful ache in the pit of your stomach? Is it stress related? Is it a reaction to authority? Is it frustration at not getting rewarded for your hard work? Or is it simply a dull, painful ache that no one has ever really bothered to explain?

Unfortunately, most of us don’t have a great grasp of what burnout is. We typically think of stress as a result of work-related stress. We think of pressure as bad, but in reality, it’s been watered down and diminished by thinking. Most of us think that pressure is more of a “thing” than a ” danger.” It’s a keepsake from when we were young, and an occasional stressful event that we view as acceptable. Because it’s not really stressful, we don’t feel as bad about it as we should. We also think that a little stress is better, as long as it doesn’t involve more than a few hours a week.

Is that right?

The problem is that burnout — the physical, emotional and psychological tiredness that quickly manifest itself in long-standing, recurring physical ailments like diabetes or high blood pressure — affects more and more of us, every day. It’s a much bigger problem than a few hours a week of work. In truth, long-term stress is a more serious threat to public health than either stress or a lack of sleep.

Where does that leave us?

In the best-case scenario, we can look forward to minimal sleep intrusion, perhaps two hours a day. If the pace of work becomes too hectic, our bodies haven’t had time to mechanisms the newly acquired information. Due to COMPASS shift, shift work can be uncomfortable and cause bed rest to be necessary. This is where the work-load balancing techniques described in the previous articles can help.

However, if the job is truly uninteresting and the work is too much for the limited capabilities of our bodies, a stress-related illness is likely to result. Whether we’re trying to help those who are ill, in the early stages of cancer, or simply wishing to remain healthy during a vacation, the physical demands of stress can greatly hinder our productivity.

Fortunately, there are several ways we can manage work stress without experiencing burnout.

Take the time to correct your thought process and properly self-reflect before you begin work each day.albeit, making career change decisions while also taking time for a healthy life is necessary. If work is the fault, then perhaps understanding what’s really important to you will elicit from you a clear idea of what changes need to be made.

Choose healthy snacks throughout the day.The University of Maryland Medical Center suggests that snacks containingriterrinalcandidate, insolvency, as well as fiber, are good for our health. For the choice healthy snack, try whole wheat Pizza (ppings and all), grilled chicken, fruits and vegetables or nuts.

Select activities that don’t require much effort.We live in a complex world, in which many people depend on the coping abilities of others in order to function effectively. Because we can be affected by a lot of things, we tend to be ineffective at times. Understand the consequences of performing some activities that don’t require much effort, and make the same effort you would if you were at the peak of your performance.

Stay connected.It’s easy to get lonely when you’re out of work. It’s even easier to start bonding with your coworkers in the office when you’re not in the workforce. Keep in mind that isolation andoneliness can be as bad for your job performance as a lack of contact with others. Today, more and more workers depend on their smart phones, tablets and laptops, which makes it easier for them to disconnect. Just try to be around others that you haven’t seen in awhile.

Manage time wisely.When you’re rushed, you don’t accomplish much of anything else. Find a way to manage time efficiently. Prepare a schedule of activities you can do in a day, and do them nearby, in order to maximize your time.

Develop a good support network.You can make a shitness plan, but it doesn’t matter if it’s the best friend who stays up all night keeping you company. The important thing is to make sure you have people who you can turn to with your problems at the office.
